PCX mirror stalk removal - simples or so it should be

PCX mirror stalk removal - simples or so it should be

Having managed to get the bar ends off (by drilling the bar bolts) I then needed to test removal of the mirror stems for subsequent fitting of wind protectors (fix to bar ends and mirror stalks). Both left and right mirrors unscrew clockwise on mine (locking nuts were easy too) but with a small adjustable wrench I could not free the two stems that screw into the handlebars (not got my proper tools with me).
So, just to check - do the stems themselves unscrew anti-clockwise, clockwise or varies dependant on side?

Honda has some real issues with handlebar area fasteners :) all of the nuts & bolts are put by gorillas. The simplist thing like moving bars up can become a nightmare. Incredibly tight needing highest quality tools and impact wrenches. Be prepared for it before you attempt bar-end removal. I wish I knew exactly what you are tooling at from your description maybe a picture could help us understand.

Nooooo! Not more damn loctite, red no doubt. The loctite on the bar end bolts came loose purely with the heat of drilling larger and larger holes into the screws until the head popped off - no need for the cooks torch I purchased.
Homie - I need to remove the little stems the mirrors screw into which themselves screw into the handlebars - I could nto get them to move which if loctited explains it. No reason for red loctite - Honda should have used blue. Guess I will have to try heating them with the mini blow torch to loosen the loctite.

Sorry Iceman, thought you meant the bolts at the bar ends, don't know about any mirror stems.

ice, you're talking about the small "mirror adaptors" at the base where they thread into the brake lever's assembly. Right?
I changed my mirrors out a year or so ago. I believe the adaptor's were left threaded?
Hmm, I don't recall having a problem removing mine and now they're packed away with the mirrors.
Can't recall if loctite was used on them or not. Sorry.

Have you tried spraying them with PB Blaster or similar and letting them sit...as long as overnight? That stuff Really works!

Yes WN, those are the things I'm talking about - would not budge with modest adjustable wrench so will use proper sockets next. What does left thread mean in terms of undoing - turn clockwise to loosen rather than the usual tighten? (worried about applying too much tension the wrong way and braking something). Will try again next week - tool case left at work.

Two people have fitted the same cheap univeral wind guards I putchases and say hand chill is a thing of the past - they can wear summer gloves now using these!
