^ What? How is that even remotely relevant? Iraq still exports oil -- billions of barrels a year. How about you read some on oil reserves: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves. Iraq is a major exporter, but by no means the only source of oil.
There's certainly not a fuel shortage here -- I pay about $3.50 USD per US gallon. According to here, you pay 1.3878 pounds per liter, which is $2.23 USD. There are 3.78541 liters in a US gallon, meaning if I bought my gas in the UK, I would pay $8.44 USD per US gallon. Perhaps you should be concerned about Iran?

Its relevant because before you get a hard on on what a B52 can do think about what keeps it up in the air. Lovely that you are awash with cheap fuel. Bit more expensive and other countries would be safemaddiedog wrote:^ What? How is that even remotely relevant? Iraq still exports oil -- billions of barrels a year. Derp. That should have said "The modern ones have turbofan engines, not prop engines, for better economy."gn2 wrote:A turbofan is a jet engine.maddiedog wrote:The modern ones have turbofan engines, not jet engines, for better economy.
What is that sentence supposed to mean? Use punctuation and wording...qed wrote:Its relevant because before you get a hard on on what a B52 can do think about what keeps it up in the air. Lovely that you are awash with cheap fuel. Bit more expensive and other countries would be safe

I think you're trying to start a political debate, so I'm going to ignore you for the sake of this thread not getting derailed.

Errm, the B-52 has always had jet engines...maddiedog wrote:Derp. That should have said "The modern ones have turbofan engines, not prop engines, for better economy."

Even its predecessor the B-47 had jet engines. (plus rocket boosters for take-off)
