2016 pcx 150 ticking noise
hi, I have a 2016 Honda pcx 150. It currently has 40 miles and when accelerating I would hear a continuous ticking noise. The only time it doesn't tick is when I let go of throttle. Is this normal? Also today when I went for a 10 mile ride. I stopped for a minute with engine off. When I started back of and rode off immediately there was two pop from exhaust. only once and never again. Is that normal too. Thanks for your help mike

I have to wonder if your valves need adjustment. 40 miles isn't very many miles. Ask the dealer to have the service department check it out.

Mel is right, the constant ticking sounds like loose valves which can cause a backfire. Must get that checked immediately.

Until you attach a wave file to your post, no one can begin to tell you what it is. Take it in if it's bothering you. I frankly think you're worrying too much about every little thing you're hearing, you posted a few times on what you hear and feel, and it may be real or just overthinking. But take it in to make yourself feel better....

Re: 2016 pcx 150 ticking noise
Loose valves normally shouldn't cause a backfire however if carboned up its possible.. I think the ticking could very well be loose tappets. However if your valves are really loose you would also have some poor performance, so as stated above you should attach a sound file so it can be heard for more possibilities. I think though a valve adjustment would be first to check.

I went to a Honda dealer today and they told me they didn't hear any ticking. They told me with these bikes, they always make vibration noises. I guess I will continue breaking it in and doing the first 600 mile service at the dealer when time comes.

Jge64 assessment is SPOT ON. It is very obvious that Mike888 perception of reality is not based on reality, and over worries about everything. Any intelligent person would see the results of their flawed beliefs and correct where they go wrong. But people that operate on emotion do not care about facts or reality. So I expect we will see many more posts like this from Mike888 in the future.Mike888 wrote:I went to a Honda dealer today and they told me they didn't hear any ticking. I'm just trying to make sure everything is ok. It is my first time owning something new so questions are normal. That's why I ask question here, people have experience that could help me. If you think my question are bothersome just ignore it.

That's exactly what this forum is for. My response was aimed at another who appears to pre-judge others by his own perception of realityMike888 wrote:I'm just trying to make sure everything is ok. Re: 2016 pcx 150 ticking noise
My PCX rides fine 2.5yr's on (only oil changed so far with near 11K miles on the clock). But from new it's always sounded louder and rougher than those I hear on YT vids and others that I occasionally see around me. Not only that, but much older and knackered looking scoots such as Dylans and Leads that park in the underground car park at work sound nicer than mine when they pull away - even heavily used pizza bikes sound nicer at low speeds.
I've just accepted that some PCX's sound harsher than others due to belt/clutch and other differences - seems the PCX CVT is noiser than some others and suffers more from glazing and the cluthch from bearing crunching

Sometimes, people need to be set straight, and be told the hard truth. Being careful, paying attention to details is good. Paranoia and worrying about everything to the the point of it being an obsession is bad.JohnL wrote:Anyone else up for a free character assessment?
