How to bypass the safe engine start ?
Hi everyone,
I hope this message finds you well.
Today I am trying to figure out the way to bypass the process of switching on the engine while pulling the rear brake lever. The goal is to switch on the engine by just pressing the "engine button". I found one way, but it is dangerous. I saw that behind the left break lever, there is the little switch that send the signal to the control unit that the brake lever has been pulled. So the idea is to cut that, but it does not seem to be the smartest way.
What do you think? Sorry my English is not my first language :)
Thank you
Federico

Hi Fred,
If you tap into the brake signal sender You could have a 2 stage start button that switches the brake signal first.
With a 2 stage button you won't be activating the starter every time you pull the lever to use the brakes.
Sorry, I'm not an electrician, just an ideas guy, so I don't know how to wire this up.

Hey Chicaboo! thank you for your reply. same same, I'm not an electrician. I saw that there is the brake signal sender, and the starter signal sender next to it. However I can't figure a way make it happen without making any damage.

As I said, I think a 2 step momentary switch will work, but you'd need an electrician to wire it up.
The first stage of the switch activates the brake signal, and the second stage is for the ignition.
You just splice into the brake signal in addition to the ignition wire.

Seems a lot of effort for not much reason at the moment.

Re: How to bypass the safe engine start ?
Not sure why this is necessary?
Out of interest, what would be the advantage in doing this and how would it improve the operation of the PCX. Not being funny about it, just curious!
Thanks!

Re: How to bypass the safe engine start ?
I know guys, the benefit is pretty much none, I was just curious how to make it start without having to pull the break lever.
Anyway, I did try the way I should have not tried, by cutting the switch pin behind the brake lever. Really bad idea. Now the scooter does not start anymore. I already bought a new ignition switch, hopefully will arrive soon. I'm back on the road bike for now.
Thank you for the messages!

Re: How to bypass the safe engine start ?
Why? because you can!
There should be 4 wires to the rear brake lever switch... just connect the 2 wires together(not the 2 brake light wires).
It is the same idea as bypassing the kick stand start switch.
I've done this on the forza, it is great for starting while rolling backwards or when you are on stealth missions (coasting while starting)

Why do you punish yourself like this sir? I think I have a mild form of this decease but not sure what its called. Sometimes I do stuff just to see what happens, shoot at shotgun shells, run over bottles in the road.... I get itFederico PCX wrote: Anyway, I did try the way I should have not tried, by cutting the switch pin behind the brake lever. Really bad idea. Now the scooter does not start anymore. Re: How to bypass the safe engine start ?
I know what you mean. It was a stupid mistake. I thought the pin was just a little piece of plastic in which worked as a switch. Well apparently there was a little wire into this pin. I learnt the lesson in which I should investigate before touching stuff I don't have knowledge of. But it is ok, no big drama. it will be fixedhomie wrote:Why do you punish yourself like this sir? well I thought of that. But I don't want to blow up the control unit. So I'll stand by and not touching what I don't know.dasshreddar wrote:Why? because you can!![]()

Re: How to bypass the safe engine start ?
Well guys, now Darwin isnt laughing anymore. I could not stay without the PCX, so me and my mate studied the situation. It is only a switch, so it works to cut the electrical current. Nothing major could happen!you you wrote:Darwin must be laughing his socks off
I ended up merging the pink and yellow/green cable, thus bypassing the switch. My PCX is back on the road, and I could not be happier!
