Which is why I have always maintained that to get any worthwhile performance increase from a PCX you need to increase power AND alter the gearing.
And that is probably more expensive than some people might think...?

id say 1500 would get it right for sure. I know most people don't have 1500 to throw away, but then again, most people don't work 72-84 hour work weeks either.gn2 wrote:Which is why I have always maintained that to get any worthwhile performance increase from a PCX you need to increase power AND alter the gearing.

No harm in having a play around and see what happens.

Re: made the move... gotta get the info rolling in here tho.
My PCX150 is redlining at 9600 rpm twice every day on two short sections of my commute and I could use a couple more mph as I wasn't quite holding the car in front of me today at 66mph although no one was coming up from behind. And it would be nice to get the revs down some, away from redline, and then just be power limited to whatever top speed I can get on a given day. 68-70 mph. 3% isn't worth bothering with. I hope Kitaco will reconsider their gear kit for the PCX and offer a two gear, two teeth swap at 8.6%.

$1500 is literally 50% of what I paid for my used Silverwing I got a few weeks ago! And I don't have to worry about modding anything, it just goes fast!id say 1500 would get it right for sure. I know most people don't have 1500 to throw away, but then again, most people don't work 72-84 hour work weeks either.

That being said, my PCX has the J.Costa variator. I got a few mile per hr extra top speed with mildly blunted low-end acceleration.
Here's my video.

I traded a gsr powerplant out of my old integra for a '99 blackbird. Going fast is an understatement for it lol. It'd be a waste if I tried to push the bike faster than it already is.jasontheparamedic wrote:$1500 is literally 50% of what I paid for my used Silverwing I got a few weeks ago! Re: made the move... gotta get the info rolling in here tho.
If these various items cost $500 in total for the Yumanashi parts, how much would the tools and labor ultimately be to handle all of this?
I thought about going further than the J Costa variator on my PCX125 but it came out that J Costa wants too much money to possibly have next to no gain. There is the video showing the PCX125 going around 120 km/hr but I live in the USA. There is still no proof that a USA PCX has ever gone > 65mph real top speed. The variator is $250 and J Costa exhaust is around $450. Plus, how much do you change the PCX before you end up with a shell that says PCX on it yet retains none of the original parts or purpose of the PCX in the first place. I must admit that I prefer the PCX's compact, excellent styling and low overall weight but ultimately the Silverwing has the muscle right out of the box without any fuss.

Too bad its almost impossible to get any of that stuff...The authorised agent in Aus 'Braap *something' didnt bother to make an effort to sell me anything from Yuminashi, never even got back to me with pricing or availability of the products except just emailing me a list of parts and that was all.YUMINASHI wrote:

I guess for some of us, as performance enthusiasts in general, I always want to push limits, reguardless of platform.jasontheparamedic wrote:If these various items cost $500 in total for the Yumanashi parts, how much would the tools and labor ultimately be to handle all of this?

The honda ruckus has a heavy aftermarket parts market for it, I consider it the new 'fanboi' bike, people swap them with gy6's and such, as well as try to make them look more aggressive. These individuals chose the base level of mini scoots, I chose a higher end model. At the end of the day, its all about improvement.

Research, research the rev limiter, how the bukes ems works, and see what valid options there are for increasing the rev limit.qed wrote:Mitch Detailed wrote: I guess for some of us, as performance enthusiasts in general, I always want to push limits, reguardless of platform.

Here the link from a test with the genuine 125cc PCX125 head and valves installed, in combination with the Yuminashi 164cc Light Bore kit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 1e5pZtlanw
