Does anyone know if the accessory slot takes a standard 12 volt socket or is the one provided by Honda smaller or shorter?
I ask this because I bought one and installed it on my bike in a hole I drilled in the center console area. (I have a 2013 PCX and they didn't come with one.) Recently I decided to pull it and just go with a USB adaptor attached to my Battery Tender lead, so the outlet is available, though I don't know how it wires into a PCX. Mine just has two 8 inch leads that plug into the outlet on one side and have bare wire in the other ends. The unit itself looks like it is about 1 1/2 inches long and has a protective cap that covers the outlet when not in use, making it weatherproof.

I think you can use any socket but not positive. I have 2013 and saw next model had in glove box so had local scooter shop install one. They just ordered a standard socket. Not exactly sure how they installed. Only thing I wish it wasn't live even with scooter not started. While at times that could be good I would hate to leave plug in and kill battery.

Could be fixed by adding a switch in the plastic surround wired to the feed, or other more electronic options (thristor, etc), but perhaps not worth it.PJDawgs wrote:I think you can use any socket but not positive. Iceman - might be worth it if I had some ability to do minor things like that. I tend to leave these things for experts. If I had the confidence there would be lots of little things I would love to tinker with. So my choice is pay scooter shop mechanic prices or go without. Some of my local scooter friends do some things but most if they know what they are doing also want paid. Granted they don't charge as much but I like the buy dinner and return favor someway type of deals (depending how major)

P.S. plus I just make double certain I unplug it and have developed routine I do that before taking helmet off or dismount or even remove key (which if I do anything dumb I leave key regularly, thankfully most my riding pals lookout for each other)

Mel46 I used a standard size 12v socket. Mine looked longer than the one on your picture.

I know that you can buy them fairly cheap, so installation would be the only problem. I found one on amazon.com within a minute. It looks like it would work well and wouldn't be hard to install if you ran the wires directly to the battery. (A word of caution on doing that: don't leave anything plugged into it after the bike is turned off.)

It looks to me like the cost of the item is not the point, but rather if one should have come on the bike in the first place. Even if one was sent to you, you would still have to get it installed...probably by that dealer. So, it looks like your choice is to do without it or get one and have them install it. Which would you like?
