MP Motor Back Rest Seat
Wondering if anyone has a back rest seat from MP? I'm considering this seat;
Appreciate any thoughts or opinions.
I currently have this MP seat, but if I ride more than 15 minutes, my old back starts hurting. I had seat area moved back 3 inches and leg room is fine.
I want to make sure the new seat moved back 3 inches will give me the leg room I need.Appreciate any thoughts or opinions.

Re: MP Motor Back Rest Seat
I've been using one of those seats for a couple of years now and it works great. I'm 6ft tall and its quite comfortable for me but any taller and you may have issues with legroom. I also have aftermarket handlebars that sit alot further forward so dont really know how it would go with standard bars and my legs.

Re: MP Motor Back Rest Seat
I have a MP Motors seat that I had them move the back support back on and it is great. Note that mine has what I would call the butt brace, not the full support like you are considering, though I think that type might be the better option. Mine is very comfortable, especially since I had them move the butt brace back a you[le of inches so that I could stretch my legs. I think you will be happy if you have them do the same with that one you are considering. I have had 6 back surgeries so I added a gel seat pad on top of the seat. I bought the gel seat pad at the local Walmart, but before you buy one just try riding with the new seat for a little while.

I'll compare that to the preferred spot for my butt on my current seat. Hope it works.

Re: MP Motor Back Rest Seat
I've just ordered the seat you are considering. I have a compression fracture in my back which can ache on longer trips so felt a bit of support was required. Looked at all the MP seats but kept coming back to this one, also got some helpful advise from Mel46.
I've asked for mine to be moved back the full 3" as I am 6'2.
The one minor gripe I've always had with the PCX was the seat, it's not the most comfortable I've ever had so I'm hoping the new one will be an improvement.

Haven't ordered mine yet, just hesitant as I would have 3 seats in the garage and want to be as sure as I can this is the final one.
Here's a pic MP sent me of a similar seat's measurement. [attachment=0]Seat.jpg

Re: MP Motor Back Rest Seat
My seat is just like that one, except for the fact that instead of 14 inches from the base of the back brace to the red edging, mine is 15 1/2 inches. My wife made me a lumbar support extension out of foam, and she covered it with a high grade vinyl she bought at a fabric shop. So now I have two extensions, one of which can carry a small gas container, and the other giving me a sort of cradle effect for my lower back. They both assist the back (butt) brace already installed on the seat. Both are easy to install or remove. Her is a picture of the one I just described. I actually added a block of styrofoam between the support and the tail box. This pushes the support firmly against my back while I am riding.

That looks top quality.
Not sure about the buttoning though. Won't you be able to feel them as the foam compresses?
Why build in the Farmer Giles?

Re: MP Motor Back Rest Seat
Homie, keep in mind that my doctor really does not like the idea of me still riding at all, but I love to ride. Anything that I can do to make it more comfortable is worthwhile to me. By all accounts I shouldn't still be able to ride but I won't go quietly to some old folks rocking chair as long as I can still ride. The hard back support seat with the two holes in it would be ideal for me if it wasn't for one small problem that I have...and that is the Spinal Cord Stimulator implant that I have which can be felt just below my belt line in my back. If I have a hard back brace it will rub against the stimulator and make for a very uncomfortable ride. Soft is much better.
After 6 back surgeries, I can not do anything more about my back, as it is an injury sustained while in the military. However, that does not mean that I will stop enjoying the things I love to do. The same goes for my leukemia. It is there. It isn't going away. Does that mean that I should stop living? Not if I can help it.
