Re: Stretched engine mount
Assuming you're still interested.Urbanfreestyle wrote:Whatever happened to this D? i've been looking at the 3" kit with interest. I would love to go longer but i'm not very good at mechanics and don't want to have to play with the cables etc.
I checked with powerbyPCX and the X-Speed item is out of of stock. Its a bit short, only a 3" extension with no proviso for relocating the stock shock mounts, leaving them at too steep and angle to work efficiently, and will lower the bike too. I sourced the manufacturer of the item and the least they'll fab is 100 units, so we may have seen the end of that item.
I've been emailing demonkid and hatch works so far without reply. Their kit is a killer professional looking box section job but perhaps a little too long in my op, and no rear shock offset brackets so far as I can tell (I think he extended his shocks? but the angle is acute) This thread died about 9 mo ago and without demonkid we're somewhat in the dark on the final outcome.
So where does that leave us?
..Webike. ADIO makes a 110mm kit ( approx 4.5") that is well built and offers shock relocators that keep the rear shocks angled and positioned correctly, maintaining the stock angle and ride height, and enabling you to keep the stock airbox too. The brake cable issue could be solved by making a extension turnbuckle in the rod from aluminium tubing, or I have heard a GY6 cable is longer (but need to check into this further). The throttle cable isn't mentioned in the ADIO product page so I'm looking into whether this is an issue. Wished I could contact demonkid, hoping he may yet reply. With the Hatch works kit and shock reloacators you'd have a killer setup. I may yet go the ADIO route if I dont hear back. The ADIO is near perfect at 110mm in my op, has the shock reloacators, stronger than stock with 'H' section beams, and its Japanese quality, see attached pic. Shame its so damned expensive though, maybe its time to cash in the 1100 webike points I got sitting around.

And it's the 4.5" extension the wife wanted, to.
Which kit is that? Do you have a link?

Hmm, I wonder if these LWB kits put more load on the forks?

Re: Stretched engine mount
I shouldn't think so, though I do understand what you're getting at, the center of balance would have been altered. Still, the weight's the same, and with this kit the ride height is maintained as well. From what I have heard the ride is actually better and stability at speed improved. Good point though, its going to take a week or two before it even ships evidently. Once its on I'll report back. Lol you always have me wondering, and now I'll be wondering for the next 2 1/2 weeks, thanks Gav.chicaboo wrote:Hmm, I wonder if these LWB kits put more load on the forks?
Maybe I should order the reinforced shock springs now

Re: Stretched engine mount
Well, here's the thing:
You're increasing the distance between two fixed points.
You as the rider, is a "moment" of force between those two points.
Consequently, you're shifting that moment further forward in relation between the two fixed points.
I expect you will feel the nose dive slightly more under braking. For rear bump absorption, who knows?

Re: Stretched engine mount
Makes sense, I'll keep you posted. If its really evident I'll do something about it. Its better than it was, now it's got the PDD valves and 15w oil in there, the valves preload the forks about 15mm and the horrid nose dive was improved for sure, I'm only about 180lbs so that helps too.chicaboo wrote:Well, here's the thing:

Same with my FJ1200 until I put a pair of progressive fork springs in there, best bang for the buck mod I ever did. I should really get some for the PCX anyways.

Re: Stretched engine mount
Which brake cable did you order?khoachino wrote:Ordered two adjusters but will have to wait for the shocks to relocate upper mount for it then figure out where to mount it, but there are alot of options where to mount them. Ordered longer rear brake cable, extended all electrical and fuel hose, started right up.
I ordered the 4 1/2" webike version and would like to be ready when it gets here, not much info out there regarding possible fitment issues such as this. Thanks in advance
