(not with a top box)
Occasionally I'll take the cage because I need to carry something. Sometimes the thing isn't even that big (like a medium sized package that won't fit in my top box or under seat storage). I've seen enough in my trips in S.E. Asia, so I now it is possible, I'm just wondering, what is the safest/easiest way to carry items? Just strap things to the pillion seat? What kind of straps are best to use? etc
Thanks!
Teach me how to carry things on the PCX.

Safely attached to bike
Waterproof
Ez off to backpack
Excellent quality

There are 100 ways to carry stuff, probably the easiest is a backpack on your back, and there are many inexpensive ways you can do it , but I think many look like crap, like a milk carton plastic box, Tupperware, etc.…
But the above works outstanding -2 1/2 years old has been through several rain storms and still looks like new. I use a Kriega 30.

Re: Teach me how to carry things on the PCX.
I have a waterproof roll close bag which I carry on the bike using the shoulder strap.
The one I use most is a 30 litre but bigger sizes are available, my 50 litre one can carry a huge amount of kit.
On a PCX you could just sit it on the tunnel and hold it in place with your knees.
Did this all the time with all sorts of stuff, even a tyre when taking it to get fitted.

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I added permanent straps to my bike. I use them to hold larger packages. Once they are attached, they can be tied out of the way when not in use.
