Re: Fuel cap hassle
The problem is the fuel button you push to release the flip up lid (same as the seat button but opposite direction), basically when trying to push the button in it wont 'push in' and so the lid wont flip up (key was in correct position!), like I said I had to force it with a screwdriver to lever it open..

This button is actuated by a cable as opposed to an electronic solenoid. It is possible that the cable stop is out of adjustment meaning that you push down on the button, but that is not enough travel to unlatch the lid.
Unfortunately I do not have my service manual with me here at work, so I will have to get back to you.
I don't even know if the manual addresses the adjustment of this mechanism. Stay tuned...

Re: Fuel cap hassle
i think the probs seem to be with the 125 (mine was alwars hard to open and close)...seems to have been resolved with the 150 as it opens in a different way....

Re: Fuel cap hassle
My 125's fuel flap has always been hard to open. You can take the flap off from the inside and bend the mount bracket back on it slightly. That helped, but didn't fix the issue for me. I still have to hold the button and use my fingernail to pull the flap up.

Re: Fuel cap hassle
If the button doesn't push in, turn the key to off and back to the release position a few times to get the release working and/or spray wd40 into the key slot.

Re: Fuel cap hassle
I have the same problem with my 2013 150. In addition, the lid will come up if I hit a bump after refueling.
Re: Fuel cap hassle
No joy with the WD40 and key switching....giving the button a good hit with the handle end of a screwdriver made it pop open tho, hardly ideal but it works

Re: Fuel cap hassle
Mine is troublesome as well - 2013 150. I push the button and not much happens. I need to fiddle with the cover, trying to get some purchase to get it started. I might just glue a bit of a knob on so I have something to hold on to. Nothing will happen soon, though - WAY to cold (and too much road salt) for me and Mantis.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

In which case the solution is lubricant into the bowden cable.Scottish wrote:No joy with the WD40 and key switching....giving the button a good hit with the handle end of a screwdriver made it pop open tho, hardly ideal but it works
Unfortunately this will require a fair bit of disassembly to get at he effing thing.

Re: Fuel cap hassle
I have the same problem and always have had this problem with my fuel flap on my 2012 PCX 125
Re: Fuel cap hassle
Ive just made a perfect solution for this issue. Ive installed a little spring that i found sitting in my drawer, just perfect for this job and now the flap pops open just over half way up when i push the button. It would take anyone 10sec to install it. Ill post a vid of it soon...ericpcx1 wrote:I have the same problem and always have had this problem with my fuel flap on my 2012 PCX 125

Re: Fuel cap hassle
I have noticed that over disassembly multiple times I got tricky on my pcx 150. I just removed the one screw that holds the whole panel and door in place and released it then watched how it closed. It ended up I just flexed it to one side or the other to realign it and it worked perfect since.
Pop your door open and see if the latch works as it should with the door open. Readjust the door side to side from there. Ideally you could do this with the whole panel off so it was really easy to open until properly adjusted. It's only one screw to remove this panel and it pops off from rear to front. Push in on the sides of the panel to release it as I remember. If not try gently pushing in on the red panels below to see if it releases. The front is not hard but the corners do lock in place too.

Should we take it to the double-dog dare level? YES!
