Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!

Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
I just got my scooter a month ago, then breaking it in according to the manual specifications and I've noticed random spots appearing on the right Fairing where the plastic is melting. my dealer wants to charge me labor in advance to inspect the panel and if it is a warranty issue, and then they will reimburse me. Do you guys have any idea as what could be causing this?
I keep the bike garaged when not in use, and I know its not a liquid because new spots are forming days apart. It started with only one spot appearing (the large one) about a week after I bought it. That one was small at first and since has grown larger while the others have formed. Anyone else have a similar problem? I removed the bottom fairing and examined the interior side to see if any wires are touching it but can't see too well.

Highly wierd. I confess that the spots look more like something that is happening from the outside, but I don't expect you keep you scoot near a grinder or welder or other bit of hot-splatter creating machinery. If the issue was from the inside, I would expect a much more "softened area" look.
Do you ever park it someplace where it could get collateral damage from a worksite?

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

No. Its just the scooter and boxes in the garage. I know its not a parking issue because its never been in the same place twice except my garage and there is nothing hot or dangerous around it.

I have melted a lot of plastic things some on purpose and some by accident. Those marks look like what you would expect by touching the outside with something hot. I say sabotage.
Re: Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
Hmm OK maybe sabotage, but why that location... Why not mark up the red? Its right next to the floorboard so its not that noticeable. if I was a saboteur, I would mark up in the area more visible To the eye... Not some out of the way place.

Re: Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
From where I sit, these marks don't look like melting spots at all. More like nicks from a tool or flying debri on the road...maybe? But melting? I just don't see that. Perhaps from a pry tool when removing the upper Tupperware?
New spots are forming days apart. Weird/Interesting and very very odd.

Thanks white noise and all who have replied. Yeah, this is leaving me scratching my head. I will continue to monitor and update this thread should new spots form.
I do think its melted as opposed to knicks that would leave indents with sharper rougher edges. If it is from flying debris it has a weird way of 1) happening to the same location more than once on completely different days and 2) only occurring to the right side. Is there any way to tell what object would leave a melt mark like that.

They look like a hot soldering iron has been touched against the plastic.
Re: Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
Damage from footwear?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
Re: Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
gn2: I was just going to write that. The location doesn't point to damage caused by something flying from road. It looks like it is melted, but the place is strange and it definitely looks like it is from boots. What do you wear while riding? No footwear with metal on it?

It's improbable but the last time I saw damage like that it was from a BB gun

I'll agree with gn2 also... Dress shoes or my a pebble stuck in a sole... See how you get on/off your PCX and maybe a foot is rubbing... Best of luck and thankfully not too noticable

I'm Forgetting that "Op" stated, "new spots are forming days apart." I'm asking, Are you sure sure about that? How do they keep forming all by themselves?
GhostRider
For a moment I'm going to make believe they are not forming days apart. Let's deal with when you took delivery of scoot. How many miles if any, where on the dial? Did you look over the scoot at that time? See anything?
Maybe? "that" panel was removed by the dealer or someone. They may have layed the panel "face down" nearby (on top of pebbles, stone, grit whatever) and then by accident,...stepped on the panel causing the ever blooming indentations.
Sorry, but I still don't see Melting, and I can't fathom how they spread. Almost Funny.
Tis a puzzlement

Re: Random spots on right side panel plastic are melting!
The good thing is that the PCX's panels are very cheap compared to most other scoots.
Not sure about that exact piece, but its probably less than the dealer will charge you to "inspect it".
Still very weird....
