New Honda replacement key will not open shutter
I got a new set of keys from Honda San Diego for my PCX 150 2013. The new keys, straight out of the Honda packaging, will not open the shutter the old key does. Service technician is calling Honda tomorrow to find out what going on. Any body has experience with this issue. Service tech said the key has magnet in it that open the shutter catch.

Re: New Honda replacement key will not open shutter
On my Burgman there were 3 or 4 magnets that had to be put in a certain order . The factory keys have these sealed inside of them, but the blank that I purchased online allowed me to pull the magnets and rearrange them to fit my particular lock. That means that you not only needed the keys to fit the ignition, but also the magnets in the correct order. Getting both is not a simple task for the dealer. Honda will probably ask for the Vin number in order to get the correct lot. Then it might be guesswork on the magnets since there are a limited number of possible formats. If Honda doesnt have the format on file, Good luck.

Open the shutter with the old key then leave it open.

There should be a single small magnet under the small metal piece. I had a couple of keys made by a street vendor here in Bangkok, and he had a little magnet that he inserted in the end and they work like a charm. I am wondering if somehow the magnet was forgotten.

I need to get another key for my car. Dealer is asking about $85 for a basic key, and $120 for a key with a remote, which includes programing. Dealer will not cut an aftermarket key, which are plentiful and cheap from Lombard Locksmith and they can cut this type of key.

Re: New Honda replacement key will not open shutter
I purchased 2 of these blanks.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321872681724?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
they come with 4 small magnets.
and a black sticker to cover the magnets.
There are 4 holes in the key for magnets
The magnets have to be installed the same way as the stock key.
you can tell which way to install by placing the new magnets against the one installed in the stock key
If it sticks install the magnet in the new key (same hole)
if it repels, turn it over and install in the same hole on the new key.
Clear as mud.
