Hill parking...

Ok, my PCX is due to be delivered this week (cbt still to be booked in), so as a complete novice this might be a stupid question and non-issue, but, how do you park the pcx on a hill?!

I've googled and googled but can only find stuff about leaving your motorbike in gear etc. which will be no use to me, and I believe the UK PCX doesn't have a parking brake? And how do you position the scooter?

One of my mates lives on a fairly steep cobbled street and I can't picture a way of safely parking on that road at all! Might be different once I've actually got my PCX and get to use the stands etc.

Has anyone else had this problem (or isn't it a problem)?

A small rubber or wood wheel chock might not hurt if you were concerned about the scooter rolling.

It isn't a problem as long as you park it facing up any incline. It's probably a common sense thing that you'll be aware of once you get your bike

Thanks all. Guessing that's uphill on the side stand rather than centre stand?

Bound to be a common sense issue but I'll be stressing about all kinds of minor issues til I get it!

If it is missing just check down the hill from where you last saw it.

Wouldn't that be riskier if you're parking it at a 45 degree angle uphill?

Anyhow, I don't suppose the UK models have a brake lock knob, do they? My US model comes with a convenient parking brake, though it wasn't properly adjusted when leaving the dealership.

45 degree! Strewth, I would not park on a 20 deg hill!

Anchor. Seriously, I'm paranoid about parking on hills. A long time ago I had a new car. Drove it home and parked on a small hill in front of my apartment. Cleaned up the apartment, thirty minutes or so, and happened to look out the window to admire the car.

Hey, it looks like it's moving a bit. Oh, SH*T, it's rolling down the hill. Flew down the stairs. Got to the front door and heard a BAM! It was stopped by another car. Not a pretty sight.

Could be a problem. Though I believe the parking brake is simple enough to adjust on your own, it's certainly sad that the dealer can't ever seem to do that properly.

On the other hand, if you're parked on the left side of a one-way street facing uphill, you either chance it, try straighten the PCX up a little more, or find another spot.

Either. Just remember if you use the side stand make sure any slope is to the left.

not much chance for a confident parking with a side stand in any position on an incline.
