How do I check my oil?

Post by RichyP »

hi guys,

this is such a Noob question and i feel a bit of a plonker for asking this as well...

I have looked in the manual and online and not had much luck at all, i am quite a cautious person and want to ensure i am doing the right thing is all.

I have noticed on on the left side of my bike, as if i was sat on it, that there is a clear tube with liquid in it?
what is this and what does it indicate?
Does this indicate oil levels?

I have done about 300miles on my bike now and want to make sure my oil level is sufficient but dont know how to check,my odl bike had oil light indicator and was right next to the petrol cap so was easy to do.

If someone could assist me with my own stupidity, it would be gratefully received.

On the right side of the bike is the grey dipstick. Unscrew it, wipe it and pop it back in place WITHOUT screwing it back in. Pull it out and see if the oil is in the marked area.

Best to do this after the bike has been switched off for 5 mins and use the mainstand on a pretty level piece of ground

The Clear (short) plastic tube on left side I believe you are referring to is the "breather drain plug" tube (as per 2014/2015 PCX Service Manual). Here's a photo from my 2015

And a photo of the oil dipstick cap on the right side

Yes. I initially had it in the bed of my truck. I took it out and got a heavy truck bedmat. I cut a section out of the kiddie rug (has grip on the backside) and layed it in mid area of my table lift. Now the center stand won't scratch the paint :D I know, I know...I'm over the top...off the chart! HaHa!
