Questions on installing and using the Kitaco i-map

Post by DYankel »

Hi everyone :D
I have purchased some performance tuning parts from Japan for my PCX125 esp t(he 2012 version) including a Kitaco transmission set, a big bore kit from SP Takegawa, a sport camshaft, a throttle body and manifold from Yuminashi and an i map from kitaco. Installing everything is fine with my mechanic except for the i map. Actually there were 2 fuel injection controllers available, one from Kitaco and the other from SP Takegawa, while the Take's is much simpler to handle and adjust, I was advised to buy the i map since the process of data input is done on a PC so it's more easy to manipulate. As I said my mechanic and I, we are not familiar to tuning the fuel injection volume and AFR ratio as we used to use carburetors up until now.
So my question is: how does one go about changing the value of fuel injected and the AFR ratio using a PC software (the program of the imap is power commander), and by that I mean the exact value at a given throttle opening angle, engine RPM and so on. Do other factors effect the tuning process (camshaft lifts, exhaust systems) etc or only those cited in the program? Of course I have tried the preset map but provided I intend to bore my Pcx up to 170cc my guess is that preset map is not compatible anymore. I have played with the idea to actually use the preset map as an anchor and adjust along the way but doing so seems kind of reckless. I take careful considerations while tuning my scooters (and vehicles in general) and since my pcx is the first one in my pcx group to be tuned to this level I desire to make it as safe as possible for others :D .
Finally thks for reading (it's a bit long but I think it did cover my entire point), and to be straightforward I know the effects of scooter tuning are moderate at best and some even are placebos but it is my passion and some others in my group so if you are opposed to tuning in general I gladly accept our differences 8)

Id get bigger injector with Kitaco imap.* That way you can use imap on its 125 preset mapping and where needed just bump up figures up slightly in the shown graph and see where it takes you. You will need http://japan.webike.net/products/21345813.html
so you can track where to increase your fuel up or decrease down. Otherwise your only other option is to dyno tune the imap to 170cc setup and that costs alot more $$..Takegawa is much easier and id still get bigger injector and afr meter as it gives you much more flexibility in adjustments.

*Using bigger injector with preset imap #3 mapping designed for 125cc with performance exhaust in mind motor works well with 170cc set up but small adjustments could be beneficial...
