A FULL TANK

I was out for a ride on my Forza this morning and needed to get some fuel. Whenever I fill the bike I take a great deal of trouble to get the last few mls of petrol into the tank; petrol is just starting to run out of the filler . That said, as I rode away from the filling station my fuel gauge indicated that the tank was just under full, halfway between 3/4 full and full.

While I've had the bike for quite some time this is the first time I've noticed this difference. Does the fuel gauge EVER show full?

I work on about 260 to 280 km per tank full, is that what others get?

The gauge is only there for decorative purposes, use trip meter A and the economy meter for an accurate guide to tank range.
When filling do you use the sidestand or the centre stand?
I normally fill up around 170 miles (273km) and there's at least 1.3 litres left.

Yup, mine says full when I fill it to the stop.

Might be the way the controller updates the level. Try keying off and then back on. It's also possible the float is sticking or the trace that the sending unit touches is damaged or worn. The trip-meter is, indeed, the most accurate method as posted above.

In general I would be more interested in accuracy at or around ZERO. Unless the tank is of uniform shape or there is a fancy algorithm in the circuit it cannot be linear anyway.

Last time i refilled the tank it was after 292km, fitted in ~9.4 litres, (about 2 liters left I assume) that's about 3,2l / 100km.
Then the tank gauge showed more than full.

Manual advises not to fill too far .. ...and you actually slightly over fill until it spills?!
Too far up the filler neck causes running problems on some scooters.

That is what the manual said. But you can fill it up with more.
And thats where I am curious about.

The reason I know it takes 11.5 is because I ran mine dry once and it took 11.5 to fill it.

So what about empty? My gauge is reading empty and I still have 1US Gallon left. I can use the odometer and just refill at 150 miles or so, but since it is new, should I consider bringing it to the dealer for recalibration?

No, they all do that -go straight from about a third into the red. I reset the odo every time I fill up and aim for about 180 miles.
