iPhone 6 Mount

Post by jojo87 »

Hey,

Does anyone know of a good mount to hold the iPhone 6?
I get really wary with my Phone on the Bike as the amount of bumps and uneven roads and potholes etc around ere, the Bike it all over the place, so I need a mount that will firmly hold onto the Phone,

BUT

I don't want one that comes far out from the Bike, I hate things sticking out too much, hence changing the Mirrors...
I just need something that will keep the Phone low and to the bar.

Used this one for awhile, worked fine. Everything I need now ports to my watch, so it's in my junk drawer now...

Glen, does the phone's mount fit under and around the "center" of our bars? If so, is the hex adjusting screw accessible?
I just bought a handlebar mobile phone holder and returned it because it didn't fit in the center. Maybe this one will. Do you trust it with your phone in it riding?

I originally had my iphone mounted on the bar but decided it was unnecessary, as I don't answer the phone whilst riding. It now sits in the left hand storage box wrapped in an old sock for emergency use. The sock prevents it from shock, and may come in handy if I ever lose a sock whilst riding.

I understand Glen. Thanks. :) But...Do you think after seeing it on your bar to the left IF it will fit in the center of your bar, or should I disregard this mount in that position? Money is an object in this household, and I already returned a different one.
If possible, could you please try the one in your drawer on the center of your bars before I order it? Mucho appreciation in advance

I've decided to just have it hanging from around my neck instead so it just sits in my lap sort of thing, I use it as I need to know when I get a call or text, and obviously don't want to keep having to quickly look at it at lights, or pull over if i think i've heard it and so on, but can't find any decent mounts..... so got some universal waterproof thing which a neck strap so i'll just use that, that way I can quickly glance at the phone.

Ram X-Grip mount is fantastic. Been using mine for a few weeks now. Not a slip, even on an over 600 mile round trip from PA to Massachusetts and back.

That's a great idea, I may try that with another sock, then I'd have a pair if I lose one or both

Went with the Ram Mount and X-Grip after all... about £56 total (3 separate bits)
went with the U-Lock for the mount, going to see if it'll fit in the middle of the bar
(right in the middle, between the 2 clamps which hold the actual handlebar on)
and then have the phone coming down instead of up off the top of the bar,
and try and arrange the 2 ball parts to maybe come back on itself sort of thing...

more like this, so it'll be coming down the middle of the bar
(quickly did this on photoshop from the stock photos)

and not like this... where it sticks up from the bar

Got the mount today.... bit of hassle regarding the U-Bolt, was a little bigger than what I was told I needed, so I took one of the wire tidy/straps off the right side and used that so it wasn't metal on metal..... and I ended up having to hacksaw the bolt to make the remaining bits shorter as they were too close to the ball so I couldn't get the arm on properly... (female, not that strong, hacksawing 2 bolts = hell lol) but now its short and looks neat with the thread covers on.... moved the arm around above and below my crossbar to see where looked better..... think above is the best angle though, landscape.
