Hi anyone here has any experience with wiring up tachometer on pcx? Not sure where to get engine signal from. There are two connectors on ignition coil but which one is it?

Depends on the tachometer. If you can tell us which one you have it would certainly help.

Cheap one of eBay. Black and red lead for light. Black and green for ground and positive after ignition and yellow for engine signalyou you wrote:lolofigo wrote:Hi anyone here has any experience with wiring up tachometer on pcx? Re: Tachometer
If its a 50 dollar Koso tach you will need to ground the black and simply wrap the red around the spark plug wire several times (do not connect red, just coil tightly) Removing the lower panel will take most of your time because I don't think you can get in there without taking the left lower panel off a 2012 model. When taking off the panel place a rag over the kickstand prior to protect your paint. After all screws are out you'll start popping the panel by carefully pulling from the rear by the passenger peg first.

The Koso works great but the instructions are a little vague. Remember to program it for a single cylinder as it defaults to multi piston bikes... around 1750 rpm when idling will be the proper reading for PCX.

Perhaps ask the sellers? Really cheap rev counters can pick up the signal from wrapping the wire around the HT lead.

Re: Tachometer
Tried connecting to the other one first. Probably blown it as it doesn't work on either of connectors.chainsaw wrote:its the one on the rear side of the bike

Re: Tachometer
It's usually the negative side of the coil for the trigger.

Re: Tachometer
^^ That's exactly what I'd do. It should pick up the charge on the spark plug wire inductively closely enough to allow you to monitor your RPM.homie wrote:If its a 50 dollar Koso tach you will need to ground the black and simply wrap the red around the spark plug wire several times (do not connect red, just coil tightly)
