Hello All,
My first post and I would be grateful for a few pointers.
I joined because I am trying to help a friend who has a 2015 PCX 125 and has been told by a shop that it needs a new drive belt and pulleys. As the bike has only done about 8,000 miles, I find this a bit excessive and am wondering if the shop is taking the proverbial, judging by what she has told me and what they have charged her in the past, it would seem to indicate this.
I had intended to take a look at the belt and pulleys for her and my friend insisted that some of the plastics had to be removed, before taking off the side cover to gain access to the drive belt. With her input I removed the rubber foot piece/tread and undid the screws underneath, the bolt under the foldout footrest and the ones at the front and rear of the panel. It still seemed as though something was holding it and I did not want to risk forcing it.
What I really need is a dismantling sequence for gaining access to the drive belt, if someone could supply such an insight.
Many thanks.
All the Best,
Rob54.

One more 10mm metric screw holds the bottom panel at the side stand.

Hi Rob.
If there are questions after this, for example 'What does the manual picture look like?',
you'll need to PM me for a 'more thorough' explanation
Before I begin, it seems to me, too, that someone is trying to take your friend's money for a job that, under normal riding conditions, is scheduled to be done every 24,000 kilometres (about 16,000 miles). That is belt and roller replacement.
I will quote from the 2015/150 service manual (yup, the one that cost me 200 dollars to get delivery in Japan!!!)
Also, for panel removal you can see my public photo album on Facebook here:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 2e4fcba7cb
The panel / component removal is as follows:
Left crankcase cover: removal
Remove the left side cover (manual section 2-8)
Remove the bolts, rear brake cable clamp and left crankcase cover.
Left side cover: removal
Remove the rubber mat.
Put the scooter on the centre stand.
Open the passenger step and remove the special bolt.
Remove the following - two trim clips (the push pin type); remove the five silver screws, one black screw, the bolt and washer.
Remove the side cover by releasing the following:
The hook from the slot in the under cover; the tabs from the slots in the floor steps
As I said, if you need more, PM me.
