Re: is the pcx a pos?
It is possible to get a bad set of bearings. Buy the whole assembly and you might get a tested one, as apposed to buying just the bearings and ending up with some from the bad batch.

Thats why I got the Super transmission kit from NCY, comes with a taiwanese pulley and bearings, no problems since and you get the variator, weights, driven face, the works. just use the stock clutch bell and conta spring.eggman wrote:mine already got a new clutch bearing now at 12700 miles its making noise again so is tis typical? Wouldn't call the bike a POS;
You've got mega miles out of £30 parts that take well under an hour to swap out.
I'd say thats pretty good

Re: is the pcx a pos?
Do you use the start sop system? I ask because when the clutch is engaged it locked up and cause minimal wear on the bearings. If it's sitting idling for extended times say in traffic the bearing will wear quicker. Obviously if the start stop is used nothing is turning so reducing the wear.
I fitted a pulley and bearings at 5500 miles but packed them with grease as the new one came fairly dry looking.

What kind of cars, eggman? 300k miles and only brake pads and oil--I want one of those. Personally, I haven't gone more than 50k without replacing tires, batteries, and all sundry of stuff. Haven't made it over 100k without even more expensive repairs. Had to put a new tranny in my Subaru at 80k, most recently; at 105k now have to replace the timing chain under the maintenance schedule.
2013 PCX 150 [now an ex-bike, soon to be consigned to the bottom line of the sig]
2013 Silver Wing ABS (Black)
1971 BMW R75/5 (White)
Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?

22,000 miles on my PCX. I've only had to replace the belt. And I did do a new OEM variator at that time as well to make sure I could get the best top speed out of my sliders. Never had any problem with the clutch bearing.

I have had great luck with Volvos, Toyotas, and Hondas. However, in every case I have had normal wear item replacement, including timing belts and water pumps. If I could afford to replace a car everytime something broke, I would be buying a lot of cars. Every mechanical devices breaks at some point. You fix it and keep going, or you spend a lot of money trading them in, in the hope that the next one will beat all the odds.
I owned a Mazda 323 and it was great, until it broke. It overheated on the freeway in the middle of July, while I was in the middle lane during 5 o'clock traffic. The engine was shot by the time I made it over to the side of the road. The car had 3,000 miles on it. ...so even those break.
