Hi,
I've been a PCX 125 owner since 2013 however I had mine stolen about a year ago, but by some miracle the Police recently found it and it is now back in my possession. Unfortunately the scrotes who stole it ripped the wires out of the ignition key unit, so I've just bought a second hand one off Ebay. However despite it being labelled as suitable for 2010-2014 models it doesn't have the bolt hole for the key fascia unit to be attached to it. I've been looking on Ebay at other ones for sale and I get the impression that the 2013 model had an ignition unit that is slightly different to all other years? Is that the case or does anyone know which years had different ignition key units?
Oddly enough, the only one that seems to match the one on my scooter is this one which says it's for a 2014-2015 model!

Re: Ignition key unit variations
Strange but not unheard of. I live in the United States but I think I can still guess as to what is going on. In the United States they go by what they call Model Year, which may not be the same as production/manufacture year. After 2013 Honda started a total redesign of the PCX, but they did not put the totally redesigned model out until the 2015 Model Year.
Keeping that in mind, Honda had to continue the production line while these plans were being finalized. For the 2014 production year (as apposed to our 2014 Model year, which didn't happen here at all) Honda introduced some of the finalized changes into the assembly line, while still producing relatively unchanged designs in other areas.
What you end up with for 2014 is a combination bike between old design and new. Some of those produced in early 2014 looked just like the 2013 model, while those produced later in that year were completely redesigned.
As an example, some members have 2014 bikes without the new LED lights, while others do have them. That means to you that some of the earlier 2014 ignition systems will fit your 2013 model, but later production model ignition systems will be completely different. Good luck figuring out which one they are from ebay.

Re: Ignition key unit variations
Maybe that's what happened as I did buy it quite late in 2013, but I have done a bit of investigation and from what I've gleaned from a Honda spares website there are three different ignition units for the years 2010-2015. This isn't definitive info, but I think that the following part codes were used for each of the time periods and they all seem to be slightly different designs.
35100 KWN-901 for 2010-2011
35101 KWN-711 for 2012-2014
35101 K35-V01 for 2015-??

Re: Ignition key unit variations
Yes, those are the only three versions I have been able to locate as well, which means that what you need should be one of those. Go to your local Honda parts dealer and compare what he has with what yours should look like, if you don't have your original ignition. Once you know the part number you need it should not be too hard to locate one. From what I can tell by the various diagrams, the price of a replacement should not be very much, though I definitely understand trying to find the best deal for a part.
One other question for you. Is the shutter assembly OK? I ask this because when you replace the ignition switch assembly you will probably find that the new key does not work on the old shutter (The shutter locks the key hole so that someone can not insert a foreign object or other key into the ignition).

Re: Ignition key unit variations
Thanks, the thing is I'm actually trying to sell it so I was trying to avoid buying the rather expensive (in the UK at least) Honda new parts, so I've ended up just buying an aftermarket unit from China.
And it's funny that you should mention the shutter assembly as with the original S/H item that I bought off Ebay I noticed that the keys that it came with wouldn't open the shutter on my old one. At first I thought it was because it was an older version, but now I'm guessing that they only work with the original keys??? I actually took it apart (big mistake BTW!) and I noticed that Honda use four tiny little magnets on springs, so I don't know if they somehow set them up to only work with the correct key?

Re: Ignition key unit variations
When the scooter is set up at the factory they know which keys will work with which shutter. There are not infinite variations. However, the possibility of finding another PCX in your area with the same key is quite small.
There are key blanks on Ebay that have insertable magnets so that you can match the shutter.
Otherwise, you would be better off purchasing the set together.
