A Pint for Pets
I'm going to break from tradition and make a statement and raise a pint to all the pets of this world. To some. . .the best friend one could ever have.
Pets. . .one of our greatest joys in life.
They don't care about the color of our skin, what language we speak, where we come from, what our economic status is, how "cool" we are, or what our politics are. They just accept us for who we are.
That said, a lot of pets are predators and in their world they would do what they must do to survive. Not by choice, but by design.
We feed them and they look at us as their path to existence and survival. No hard feelings, nothing owed, nothing calculated. Just the way it is day to day. They befriend us and so it goes. . ..
Perhaps we can learn from them.
Perhaps the answer to world peace is merely enough food for all. . ..
Think about it on your next ride when you reach your destination and reflect on reality.
Happy miles!

This is our cat Sammy; he is also known as professor Fluffy, fat one or lazy bum depending on the time of day you encounter him. And as all cats, he also likes to jump into boxes hence the next picture .
He even posed so we could compare with how he looked when he was a couple of weeks old .
He's part of our family, somehow he can sense our feelings / emotions or at least that's what I'd like to think.- Mel46

Re: A Pint for Pets
My dogs not only depend on me for their food, but they also depend on me when they don't feel good, or if they just want to be close to me. If I am watching TV or lying on the bed, one of them, if not more, will climb up between my legs, lie down and put their head on my leg.
They are very much like children. Much of their initial survival skills have been bred out of them...except Jack Russells.

I won't add a picture of my boy, Butch, RIP. His passing is still too fresh in my memory. He was my all time best buddy. He died this past October.

All his life he has been on weruva cat food, all natural but expensive. Only wet food, never dry hoods. My research despite what the marketeers tell you and even some vets dry foods are not a good food for animals. I know that will cause controversy, but wet foods are the best. Best of luck to your guys and feed them well.Very well said.. My buddy just recently celebrated his 18th birthday.. and one more thing to add they never talk back..well, maybe sometimes..

Re: A Pint for Pets
We have a neighbor who thinks it is great to have her cats climb all over her recently purchased car. She leaves its windows open so that they can sleep in it, and she doesn't mind that the car is starting to smell like a litter box. (Her house smells just as bad.) She gave her previous car to her gay son, who immediately gave it away because it smelled so bad.
Several of her cats are males and not fixed, so there are cat fights at night, and even some spray their territory.
Well, now those cats are roaming the neighborhood and climbing onto our cars, because most of the houses in this neighborhood have carports instead of garages. No one is happy to come out in the morning to find new scratches in their new paint job, let alone their new car, and hairballs. Ugh! Yet, that neighbor just laughs the complaints off like they are nothing.
Cats may be nice pets, but if they are allowed to roam at night then be responsible for whatever damage they do.

Re: A Pint for Pets
He looks like he knows something we don't . . ..Harlee-
I've always been a dog person since I was a kid but a few years ago when my Boston Bull passed away my youngest daughter and I decided to seriously consider a cat . . . sort of an "on the spot" decision. Actually the cat picked us. We stood by the big window wall of the "cat room" in the local pet store watching him snoozing on the highest pedestal. For some reason he sensed our presence, while the other cats there were all sleeping, and climbed down to floor level and came over to the window. As he looked up he had that "well here I am", "get me outta here" look on his face and the rest is history.Cats may be nice pets, but if they are allowed to roam at night then be responsible for whatever damage they do.
He's always been an "indoor only" cat. Never left to roam. The big reason is for environmental reasons. Cats are responsible for a lot of death in the bird and critter world. It's one thing when they reduce the varmint/mice population but when they start threatening bird species things get out of balance. So he's always been happy indoors and he does get exercise and he does get his Vet visits for the appropriate care.
He changed my whole view on cats. They truly are great pets. . .despite some of their shortcomings. And he's a lot smarter than I originally gave him credit for.
I sincerely hope the cat problem in your neighborhood gets resolved.
If it gets to be really serious, as if it isn't already, then maybe the local animal control officials should be notified. Do you think the cats are getting their required vaccinations or are adequately cared for?

Re: A Pint for Pets
My cat never scratched my car mainly because a cat needs grip on shiny slick surfaces so they use their pads for gripping so by using their nails only makes them slide and not grip.
