Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?
I wear thick boots (not motorbikes ones but sturdy to the ankle), soft leather gloves with semi-hard protection (RST's), a textile armoured jacket and waterproofs over jeans. Now winter is approaching I'll start wearing the Armr Moto armoured waterproofs I have instead. I also have a cheap helmet w...

Oh you lucky goose.
Revzilla and STG are gear mainstays in practice and conversation in my riding groups. I literally have a pile of stickers from all the orders over the last 3 years lol

Re: Aloha from LA (again)
Bought ours at Bert's Mega Mall in West Covina. It had 2k'ish miles on it ( i feel like every used one has 2-3k for some reason). Had been down once, tiny rash on the left side on the front cowl corner and rash on the under and side of platform. It was cosmetic, and i spoke to two of their mechanics...

Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?
Yeah, im from Hawaii and live in LA most of my daily life and even when im chilling at the track im in board/basketball shorts and slippers all day. I might suggest an Air pants, most makers have a mesh version they call Air, for obvious reason. Moto jeans arent that bad, most have a cotton liner th...

Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?
Hi-viz HJC full face helmet, Hi-viz armored mesh jacket, riding gloves with knuckle protection, leather boots and knee and shine protection. Riding pants with armor for cooler weather. Don't think I'm riding squid. Upgraded from a 3/4 helmet to full face because of a recommendation on this forum. W...

Re: How a CVT works - youtube
What kind of cargo are you people carrying to work? When I commuted to work, all I needed was my brain and what fit in my pockets (door badge/ID to wear around neck, keys, phone, etc). Even when I rode to work on a bicycle and took a change of clothes, it fit into one pannier. Since i always ride g...

Re: 2005 Suzuki V-Strom
Very nice strom, I used to ride the SV650 and 1000 myself. Its a bulletproof v-twin and pretty cheap too.
Also, is that a pellican or storm case you have fitted to your plate? did you just hardware mount it to a givi plate or something?

Re: How a CVT works - youtube
I should add to your list - no electric start... because the next bike that I would love to have (in addition to the PCX) is the new-old Yamaha SR400. On the other hand, I don't need it for daily transport, just for fun riding, as I'm retired. Um... what? What are you talking about? CBR300/300F are...

I don't think Honda ever made a lousy 2 wheeler. I've been riding them for 4 decades. Hide your eyes....if you don't want to look at a CB300F https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DCQdwgvzq0k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzGKb5O9wOE&feature=player_detailpage Yeah i thor...

Re: Motorcycle Helmets
Been reading thru this. Lots of good info, but i've noticed some facts are missing and/or havent been addressed. Used helmets are fine, but never when they've been down (doesnt matter how minor, unless its been factory recertified, its as good a garbage). Majority of manufactures rate helmet lifespa...

Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?
Bit of extra training might be a good investment too. Yeah, I try to practice often. We have some really dangerous canyons here so i've been doing more track racing lately. I've done all levels of MSF with the exception of California Superbike School, i dont feel ready for balls out in 1000cc class...

Re: How a CVT works - youtube
Its a small bike with zero on-board storage, chain drive and a manual box. Totally impractical as daily transport, a p.i.t.a. to clean and maintain, thoroughly unpleasant to ride, I could go on.... Okay, thats a valid argument. I don't completely disagree, but realize what are you are describing is...

Re: ATGATT or Squidding: What do YOU ride with?
I'm an ATGATT, but I'd like to hear the details of your experiences with textile gear not holding up in a crash. Brand, type, damage to the gear and you, etc. When I started riding in college i didn't know better like most, so i was guilty of squidding often. I had a Shift Octane leather jacket my ...

Re: The motorcyclist wave explained
Mel, it was my pleasure. The term is not really derogatory so much as it is old, it also applied to cars too for good reason, so you are right in that regard. To be fair, amongst bikers its common to poke fun at the nationality of a bike in that manner, in a polite and joking but respectful manner o...

T675????????????
i'm after the same performance mod, its seems the lowest common denominator is a reinforced belt and lightweight sliders to start.

Re: The motorcyclist wave explained
^^^ LOL. No squidding Very good assessments all around. Yes the wave is much more a part of the motorcycle comunnity, which the scoots sometimes get left out of. It is also a sign of respect, there are times when a car enthusiast (in a nice car) will wave as an acknowledgement of "hey, thats a ...
