Re: French Scooter Porn
I met an ex member of 1 para. He had recently retired after 12 years with them including Afghanistan etc. I raised the subject of US airforce friendly fire, his response was that "they (the USAF) had saved our arses often enough". It's pretty impressive that there are not more friendly fir...

Re: Service @ 4000 kms
:? You can't do a valve check in 20 minutes, it's impossible. Plus, for a valve check to be of any good the engine must be cold so you would have to leave the scoot with them for several hours before they began work on it (preferably over night).. What gasket? I can't think of any that would need to...

Pour hot water over it first. It makes the plastic less brittle. Make sure you put some grease or something on the lugs etc. when you're refitting it

Re: 5000 mile service
That's a crazy price - they must have made a mistake. I paid £110 for my 5k service. If they are your nearest dealer call them up and tell them they have their pricing wrong. If that doesn't work call Honda up and tell them.

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.
With great respect to gn2 and qed, could you leave off each other and let a very good thread continue as it was meant to? the OP has started one of the most important and informative threads on this forum and it would be a shame if it became diluted by any infighting.

Re: Honda NC700
I passed my direct access motorcycle test today which means I'm no longer constrained to 125cc/15hp. Could those of you who have the experience tell me if the NC700S or X would make a good first big bike, or would you recommend something smaller, say 400- 500cc?
All advice very greatly appreciated

Re: KTM 125 Duke.
Passed my Mod 2 Direct Access (that means I can ride any size bike now - can't stop thinking about Hayabusas after 125s) 3 hours ago :D So now the KTM will have to go. It's got about 1800 - 1900 miles on it now but is still in very good condition if anyones interested. I'll see about putting it on e...

Re: New ride -- Honda Silverwing
I'm probably selling my KTM, it's a money pit. :( What's the problem with it? Talking of dealer network support etc. I recently discovered that the foot brake light switch wasn't working on my KTM. This was covered under warranty but it would mean a 120mile round trip (they wouldn't let my local Ho...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.
The section says: " Your likelihood of having an accident Average car drivers cover about 10000 miles a year and have a one in seven chance of an accident during that time. Compared with drivers, the risk for motorcyclists is much greater. They are: more than 35 times more likely to be involved...

I owned a Mirafiori when living in London, what an unreliable piece of Italian rubbish. Abandoned it at a car yard when I blew the headgasket! They're worth good money now. Is this turning into a Fiat thread? I want one of these: http://www.cartype.com/pics/6919/small/fiat_600_multipla_1_55-60.jpg

Re: Shopping for my first Scooter
The Zooma looks very cool in my opinion but I wouldn't buy one because they are so impractical - shopping etc. Get a top box fitted on the PCX and you can do some mild touring, add some panniers and go round the World. http://www.andrewcharnley.com With rain coming your way in the near future you ma...

Re: Honda NC700
Just a quick sum up on the bike.....basically it rocks! First fill up has put me at 81 mpg. I am enjoying the extra power for over taking others and also cruising at 85 mph at just over 4k revs in 6th gear makes for a very nice relaxed ride. :D That's what I wanted to hear :D. I'm guessing the X wo...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.
I'm sure everyone makes mistakes, I know I do. As you are doing, we should all aim to be perfectionists not just for safety but also for the pleasure of doing something well. That sounds a bit preachy or trite but you get what I mean. The more miles travelled the more experience gained. As far as Po...
