I am considering changing the weights of my rollers in my PCX
I understand the advantages and disadvantages of higher vs lower weights
I am just wondering what the people here use
Which do you prefer?
And what weight?

I like 11-13g sliders in the stock variator, but they didn't feel right in my Daytona variator.
Then I read that the Daytona variator has Teflon coating like the NCY variator = rollers only.
I've also tried 14g rollers in the Daytona variator, and that's a pretty nice relaxed setup.
If you're on the fence, I don't think you could go wrong with either 13g rollers or sliders.
Caution, I get an extra 10kph top speed on the centre stand with 13g sliders over 11g sliders.
This might be a problem if you have a low geared LED model for the US market...
Then I read that the Daytona variator has Teflon coating like the NCY variator = rollers only.
I've also tried 14g rollers in the Daytona variator, and that's a pretty nice relaxed setup.

I have been riding a 2013 PCX for the last 3 years.
And, have been wanting to play with the rollers for a long time.
I would like to see what lighter rollers and the increased acceleration would feel like.
BUT, since I share this bike with my girlfriend, she has a say in what I do to this bike ..
and she says "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING" ... LOL
so, I am taking delivery of a brand new 2017 next week.

Stock roller weight is 15g as far as I know. I am still using these rollers but have ordered 12.5 g sliders just a few days ago.

Stock pcx150 2017 should be 15.5gr

You might have added which vario kit is used first
Over whelming would be this one with 13g rollers.

I have 12.5g rollers coming today/Monday for my 125 so will report back how they are compared to stock 15g.

I think I'll try the 13g sliders (13g is frequently mentioned for rollers, at least... are sliders more functional in a different weight?) with the stock face. Which is very convenient... as no other face will work very well with the sliders, no?

To avoid confusion, the drive face is the outer fixed pulley, and the variator is the inner pulley that houses the rollers. Then there is the rear driven face...grndslm wrote:Soo.... based upon

But yes, I tried sliders on the Teflon coated Daytona, and it was atrocious. However, it worked really well with the 14g rollers it came supplied with.
The mechanical advantage of sliders is they have a lower profile at idle and taller profile at high revs, so they offer a gearing advantage over rollers.
I've not ever noticed the lower gearing off idle, but you can certainly see the difference free-revving the scooter on the stand. +10kph with 13g sliders!
Sliders are so cheap in America, that you can buy a couple of sets and experiment. I've got 11g and 13g sliders, and use a mix of the two for 12g sliders.

After a couple hundred miles, I changed to drpulley sliders 14g - loved them
After a year I changed to the entire NCY variator/drive face with 13g rollers - even better.

I've done all this testing on new parts or used with minimal wear, back to back with 2 or 3 tanks of fuel in between to give for the belt to settle into the pulley profiles.
The differences you are talking about are quite minimal, but enough for me to notice on launch and in the mid range before the scooter was close to max revs at max speed.
Sliders alone in combination with an HD clutch really gets you moving, too. But you are using more revs at low speed since the clutch doesn't fully engage until 4000-4500rpm.

My experience with 125 was 10g sliders or rollers were the best for performance with Honda variato. Thanks for your reply, I live in Spain in Valencia and I do not usually go a lot for city I go for the road a lot of time, I read that 10gr is little, I believe that of stock 15gr and with slippers of 13gr goes well, I am confused and I do not know that install.

If you have a 125 cc and just want to give your bike quicker acceleration off the line, but do not need greater top end, then drop down to 10 gram rollers OR 10 gram sliders, whichever you can get your hands on. This is a quick and easy swap if you have the tools. A shop can do it in 15 minutes.
