How-To: Completely Dismantle A PCX

Hey, got the picture of clean PCX without plastics with maybe just headlight?

This thread REALLY helped me yesterday. In June, I parked my scoot in the sun for a few hours. The heat from the sun warped the little Honda wing insignia in the speedometer like a potato chip. The speedo needle would hit the warped insignia and go no higher than 52 mph. It irritated me to no end. Yesterday I took the housing apart and removed the offending warped insignia. The REALLY hard part was getting the gummy glue stuff off without damaging the surface. Two hours of Q-tips and Goof-off got it done.

While I was In there, I bled the brakes. What a crazy way to mount the CBS fluid holder! Also added a USB cable and a phone holder. My cell phone, google maps, and Bluetooth link to my helmet comm gear kicks my old Garmin GPS's backside.

There was a minor crash during which the headlight unit was broken.
Do I have to take off EVERYTHING to replace the unit?

I recently fixed my headlight assembly so that it now has 6 useable lights. Here is a picture of how far I had to break down the plastics in order to get to the light assembly. Have fun. Shouldn't take too long.

Dig the workshop. Great tutorial. The panels appear seamless so it's been difficult to know where to start.

Start in the rear and work your way forward. When you get stuck pull out the service manual and look in the panels section (chapter 2).

Back in time I've found a real time video with some asian guy completely removing body panels in about 15 minutes. It helped me more than the service manual (which is indispensabe otherwise). The rear cover behind the seat and the centre console panel beneath the steering was (is) my boo-boo out of the whole procedure. The video showed the right tricks and moves to make it easier.
By now my main issue is that I have both a LED model and a 2014 non-led, as well as do service for some other PCX owner friends. As they tend to have slightly different panel attachments with eaxh model, I have to think twice how to proceed on the specific bike.

Oh I think twice and still have to look up this thread. I may have done this a dozen times, but there are some parts that make me scratch my head, like the main side panels (front cover panels).

You sir, have just saved my life. I got rear ended last night and the guy had no insurance. Cutting the long story short, he gave me £700- bought all the spares for less than 100 and im taking it as a bit of a project. Had some scratches, so I will be changing things I would have wanted to anyway!

Just want to add my thanks to Maddiedog for the excellent dismantling guide. Clear, simple step-by-step instructions with fantastic, clear pictures to illustrate.

First post,just bought 2017 model so dont know how much has changed but that tutorial was frickin excellent,maybe the best I've seen anywhere for anything on a forum,so thanks

You are encouraged to document any and all work you do on your 2017. There are some differences between years and models, and the more info we can get on the site, the more useful the site is to more people.

All you guys and gals with newer machines, set up the camera and break out your wrenches and plastic panel removal tools!
