Best Oil to use

Hi Guys: Got PCX 125. Thinking of an oil change come Spring. How about "Mobil 1"?

Absolutely any 10w30 motor oil will be fine.
Mobil 1 is good quality stuff, use with confidence.

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Have been using it since after the first oil change, and my bike is running fine.

Just push it in, I guess.

We had a neighbor a while back who used old cooking oil to run his old diesel Mercedes. He got his oil from Chinese restaurants. Strange smell at stop lights. You could always tell that his car had been there before we drove up.

I have and always ran all my scooters on Mobile 1. 5w-20 changed every 1k miles like a religion. Im in so cal so its rarely ever over 100 degree's. If I rode in a hotter climate i would run 10w-30.

Well it's only a quart - so there's no downside & your engine says "thank you".

No way I could find it now, but I do recall reading a study on (aircraft) piston engine oil wear analysis and it found that the best lubrication was actually oil partially thru it's "life cycle". Meaning that - over the studied use period - slightly used oil actually accumulated less additional metal, etc contaminants than new oil did.

I don't remember what they said the reason was or if other studies had the same results.

It is kind of a waste if I put a lot of miles on my bike but I put less than 2k miles on my bike a year. ha ha ha
Just gives me peace of mind given my bike constantly lives above 8500-red line every time I ride. CVT tuned for acceleration : )

That's interesting. Maybe similar to how a slightly dirty K&N filter filters air better than a freshly washed and re-oiled filter. (that's hard to read ha ha ha)

There are some guys on the Burgman forum who swear that dirty oil filters do the best job or straining the bad things out.
One fellow used the example of: "which strains better a biscuit or a pair of nylons?" to prove his point.
Remembering my grandmas big fat biscuits - I had to agree - which was scary.

Common misconception when it comes to scooters/motorcycles is that you need to run Motorcycle oil.. Due to the fact that we do not run wet clutches, there is no need to blow the extra money on dual blend Motorcycle oil..

Mobil 1 is a brand. I guess they achieved marketing success. Which vehicle manual says that?

I've been using automobile oil for the past few oil changes on my PCX with no problems. I figured using car oil is better for my PCX engine, than using motorcycle oil JASO MA. I can't find JASO MB oil in my small country. Also, I ride a lot these days, I buy 4-litre bottle and use it up well within 1 year.

To me, if it meets the minimum requirements Honda recommends, and it is synthetic, it should be fine. The key is changing it . If you don't change it, your engine is screwed. I have read that synthetic oil can go 7,500 miles between changes, but I stick to the 3,000 mile rule for peace of mind. It is only 1 quart, and if you can't afford $10 for a quarter of oil every few months, you can't afford a scooter.
