Rear Brakes issue

Post by tinoc32b »

Hello there, hope you can help me out, i have a 2015 honda pcx 150, with 1300 kms, and my rear brakes are doing a strange sound like fine scream, the sound appears when the pcx slow down without braking, i know little about motorcycle mechanics, but i do know that the rear brakes on this model are adjustable, is there any link or know how post.

Thank you in advance. ;)

Put the bike on its center stand and try to spin the back wheel. If it does not spin without effort then the brake needs adjustment. There is a rod on the left side down by the wheel, just below the center hub. It has a nut on it. If you turn the nut one way it will tighten the cable. If you turn it the other way it should loosen the brake cable. Play with it while using the left hand brake lever to make sure you have not over loosened it since the left hand brake lever applies pressure to the rear brake.

Thanks Mel46 for your answer, i will adjust the nut first thing in the morning, can you tell me how hard the rear brake lever has to be adjusted, compared with the front brake lever? The sensation of hardness i mean.
I live in Lima - perú, south América, do you know a web site to buy genuine spare parts, mostly for the maintenance? Maybe in USA?

Thank you again :)

Don't compare the feel of two completely different mechanical brake systems. Although the feeling is remarkably similar the front is disc and the rear is drum. You can find parts when the time comes, what you might want is the parts catalog PDF so as to familiarize yourself to the bits and pieces. A service manual can save you BIG money if you want to learn how to maintain it yourself. When I get back to a computer I can upload a parts cat if someone doesn't do it before. Is your bike LED lights? You have that year that can go both ways.

Hi homie, thanks for your reply, i have to say that my local dealer is not going to bring the pcx anymore, I have one friend who has the same model, but with 8000 kms and he told me, prepare yourself, brake pads, air filter, coolant change, spark plug, etc etc etc. All hard to find here, and with a waiting list of at least 3 months wich is absurd, unfortunately i dont know anyone else here with a pcx  but i have great chances to get the spare parts with some friends who live in USA and they have family here where i live, only thing is i do not know from where to get the spare parts.

Like i said my pcx is only 1300 kms, but it looks like i have to start looking my spare parts

I see homie you live in Chicago, can i ask where do you get your spare parts.

My pcx is i believe the third version, it have full LED lights, same model as yours, except for the idle stop in my case and the hand brake in yours.

If you can upload that catalog part i will appreciate it very much :o

There are several places that sell parts fairly inexpensively on the web. One of them is bikebandit.com however you MUST know what your bike looks like as apposed to the 2013 because the 2013 is ENTIRELY different. There is not a 2014 model in the United States, and the 2015 model has LED lights. One way to tell which is which is to look at the front fenders that keep the wind from hitting your knees. The newest model closed the gap that made sort of a sideways 'V'. In the United States the 2013 model has turn signal stalks right in the 'v'.
My guess is that you have the newer model, so look at the 2015 parts category on bikebandit. Homie has provided you with the catalog. Compare the part numbers with the ones on the OEM page. Here is a link:
http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/201 ... #sch909757
Partzilla.com is another good site.

You can buy spark plugs, air filters and other normal replacement items on Amazon, eBay, etc as long as you know the name and number.
Hopefully, we have helped you keep you pcx running for a long time. They don't require a lot of maintenance but you should have an owners manual so that you now when to change oil. I would change it every 3,000 miles. Use synthetic oil. It is recommended.

Very sure that my pcx is a 2015 model, sorry about that mistake, on my profile appears 2014, i do not have turning signal on my knees, and i have full LED lights.
I will check the parts on the OEM page thank you Mel46 ;)
About the oil, i didn´t find the JASO MB, i put a MOTUL 10W30 JASO MA2 synthetic is that ok? and my dealer said to change it every 2000 kms wich is in miles about 1250 miles. :|

Motul 10/30 is good, change every 4-5000 miles.
To check your back break, put on main stand and turn the back wheel. While moving the wheel put on the brake. Release the brake and turn the adjuster nut until you feel resistance. Release the nut half a turn, test, job done

Nice bike 8) 8) 8) but we can't see it and i'm on a 24" monitor o_O If you are windows based use the paint program to resize your images or program your camera to store smaller pictures OR just use your cell phone and email to yourself, save to drive, and then upload to forum :D

As for video make a youtube account, upload your vid to YT, open the video from (my channel, video manager) copy the address string in the text block and paste in forum. Like this;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rczZE_4OBJI

or just past the tail end of it after the =... rczZE_4OBJI
then highlight it and click the [youtube] box up by the font tools.

I WANT TO SEE A LAMA!!!!!
