YSS G Shock Arrived - Could Use A Little Help

The YSS G Shocks from BikerBitz arrived. YES! I did not pay for speedier shipping but it only took 6 weeks from Thailand.


First of all, thanks to Dave for great how-to-install thread!. I hope it's that easy on the 2015!
One question though please; The only directions, on the box rear, say to use a 10mm bushing for the PCX (though it does not say what year) and that the bushings would be in the box. But I checked carefully, twice, and there are none.


Does anyone know if a bushing is needed, and if so are they referring to the top or bottom? I noticed there was a little extra lateral room on the bottom mount when I held the YSS shock next to it.

I don't know that much about the YSS shocks but I would think that the bushing has already been pressed in if you ordered the shocks specifically for the PCX. I have Takekawa lowering shocks on mine and they came with the bushing already pressed in. Does the box they came in have a dot or check mark or some other identifying mark that shows they are for the pcx?

Well, yes, the box is labeled as for the PCX. Maybe I'm expecting too much, you think?

Bushing is clearly there at the top of the shock

I believe the bushing in question is already pressed into the aluminum boss on swing arm.

OK, I must be expecting too much from the maker - over-worrying about the extra play at the bottom.

those shocks look nice, by chance can you weigh them for me.(pounds or grams)

With concerns now alleviated, I mounted the shocks and, as respondents noted, the bushings are all there. I can be such a worrywart sometimes...
Thanks Mel for your wisdom. You were right.

Report: Outstanding! These YSS shocks have a feature the stock Showa's didn't: The ability to lessen the impact of road imperfections.
The ride is stiff but that is due to their newness and me being at the bottom of their XL weight range (90-120Kg). They're already sweet but will be even better following adjustment.

BTW, installation did not require the removal of the muffler.

Dashredder, I apologize but I did not see your post until too late and the shocks were already installed, so weighing them was not an option. However, I used a very accurate scale to weigh the packing materials and subtracted that from the weight listed on the shipping label. This should provide you with an accurate weight for the shocks.


The packing materials alone weighed .616Kg

4.09 - .616 = 3.474KG / 2 = 1.737Kg per shock,
or, 3.829lb per shock
or 3 pounds 13.264 ounces, per shock

I hope that you installed these with the gas reservoir on the top?? That is where they should be on your scoot, not upside down like we see most of the time. I saw these in person and turned them down for the opposite style(just my personal preference). Enjoy and let us know what you think compared to OEM stock shocks.

I held the shocks against the bike and considered both mounting options and decided they looked proper with the reservoir to the rear. It turns out this is what YSS wants also because there is a cut-out notch in each reservoir which precisely fits the luggage box. Of course, I only realized this after reassembly.

I sent 2 sets to myself about 3 weeks ago(FROM THAILAND to USA), G series and Hybrid.... I will see which ones I like best.
