Re: High Coolant Temp. On! Whitish smoke on the muffler! Check Engine light is on!
I had a simular problem back in 2004. The water jacket in the head had a hole leading to the intake valve. I replaced the head using all the old parts (valves). Bike still runs great. I also now have a 2019 PCX 150.

Re: has there been any1 on this forum who had a motor go bad
Yes, I had a coolant leak in the head on a 2013 PCX behind the intake valve after about 6 months of riding and one year of ownership. I believe it was a manufacturing defect.

Re: Are You (or have you been) a Piaggio/Vespa Owner?
I had a Vespa in the mid 60s. It was a 90cc red model with a spare tire on the back rack. It had a top speed of 39 mph. Got my drivers license on it. That was real easy because it was raining and the guy just made me ride down the parking lot a bit and come back to him and stop. Only problem I had w...

Re: Whoa! PCX first part fail - cracked reserve tank outlet
I've had three out of four Honda's that I picked up new which had a problem. One was a 2 stroke dirt bike that no oil in the transmission. A street bike that had a bad cam chain tensioner, and my 2013 PCX which had a defect in the head water jacket behind the intake valve. Honda makes pretty good ma...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
Sorry its been so long for me to get back to the forum. I wrote in my last post to you all that I would let you know what happened with my submission to Honda for the machining defect in the water jacket behind the intake valve. It took a long time and a few phone calls to the dealer. The dealer sai...

Re: First Problem with my 2011 PCX125
Maybe it has something to do with engine or exhaust heat vaporizing fuel some ware in-between the tank and the fuel injector. I've had problems with car's in the past sort of like what you describe. I even had it happen when winter gas was still in the tank on a hot day in the spring.

I have a 2013 also and the light does not come on when I turn the key on. I once left the wire to the coolant temp sensor off on a rebuild and it through a code and ran bad. Its a simple but great system!

Re: Coolant warning...
The temp light does work. I saw it come on when I had the hole in the head problem. It was my first indication that I had low coolant.

I went to the Post Office this morning to mail something and picking up my sister-in-law. She fit under my seat. Her ashes I mean. She use to like to come up to New Hampshire to ride a old dirt bike I had, but never made it up here to try my scooter.

Re: Coolant warning...
homie, I think Tom192 is asking why is it using coolant? When I had a problem with low coolant on my PCX 150 it was because the water jacket above the intake valve had a hole in it.

Re: 1900 miles with no oil change how screwed am I?
wibblet, I'll give you my opinion. You broke in the engine a little quicker than usual. Water under the bridge. Change the oil and go for a ride and don't worry about it. The rumble may be a little glazing on the centrifugal clutch. If it really bothers you, you can buy a service manual to tear it d...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
I put the bike back together over the weekend and I'm back in business. I did leave the valves a little on the loose side but will deal with that on the next bad weather day. The bike runs fine and there are no screws or bolts left over so I'm happy. The Dealer is submitting the old cylinder head to...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
iceman, I may have a 50/50 chance of getting some money back from Honda. The guaranty to have no defects in the US is only one year. That makes no sense in a area were you can only ride a bike 6 months out of a year. I started having a starting problem with the PCX the end of April. I had the bike f...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
Here is my latest update! I disassembled the cylinder head this morning and discovered that the coolant leak into the intake port was caused by a machining era. Just above the intake valve seat Honda machined a counter bore too deeply into a thin wall casting. It caused a breakout into the intake po...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
fun2scoot, I like it and will keep your thinking in mine for future problems. :) I ordered a new head, gasket, and o rings for the water pump today. Price is around 125 dollars for everything with the head being $117.00 of that. I told the dealer I was going to bring the old head back to them for th...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
fun2scoot, I can't really blame cold weather or the dealer. I believe the cooling system is filled at the factory and the dealer would only check to see if the small over flow tank has enough coolant in it. What do you think?

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
Hi fun2scoot, I wish I would have checked the coolant before last winter. I assumed it would be okay. It only got down to -19F last winter here so if they did put in 50/50, it should have been good. There is no sign of damage to the radiator or any other part of the cooling system. Guess its just my...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
fun2scoot, at this point it does not look like the head gasket was ever leaking. There really was no way for me to tell in the three times I broke down the engine without a pressure test. The reason why I believe it could be a casting defect is because of the way it looks through intake port looking...

Re: Blown Head Gasket (one year old bike)
Blown head gasket update? Well guys, after a new head gasket and Anaerobic Gasket Maker I still had coolant getting in the cylinder. Okay, maybe the Prematex does not work. So I tore it down again and sanded the head flat and reassembled with another new head gasket. No joy. I just could not see wha...
