Is changing final drive oil every 2 years really necessary on a bike that doesn't get a lot of miles? (eg. 2k miles per year)

Just realized mine hasn't been done in close to 4 years now. Should I go ahead and change it?

Please see attached It looks like oil collects in here. If i put my hand in the hole there, its like a little cut-out. Not sure if this is normal.

I'm using a medium height windshield, I can still see the road and it prevents the air from hitting me straight on the chest.
